The Making of a FrankenViolin - Strings and Spikes
The next step involved adding the strings and fine-tuners. As I added the strings, I was happy to see that the tuning pegs were functioning properly. But there was a problem - a big one. The distance between the strings and the fingerboard was over 2.5cm, making the violin pretty much unplayable. I had to figure out how to reduce it to around 3-4mm.
I realized that one of the issues was the angle of the violin's neck. I had to come up with a way to adjust the angle of the neck. Since repositioning the neck wasn’t working, I decided to add a little wedge under the neck to cause it to angle upward. After multiple attempts, including one where the fingerboard snapped off the neck, I finally succeeded!
Lastly, I added the spikes on the sides to give my violin a little more character!
